BioBorn and raised in a mid-level corp family in Sapporo, Japan, Palmer is the daughter of an irish-american writer/programmer and japanese corporate father who owned a vr videogame company. She was shunned and disreguarded by her father all her life, as he wanted a male heir to carry on the family name, and Palmer's mother was unable to bear children after Palmer was born. This was somehow Palmer's fault, and her father never let her forget it. Palmer's mother disappeared before her 12th birthday, and her father led her to believe that she was dead (Palmer vehemently denied this -- if her mother were dead, it was her father's doing.)
On her eighteenth birthday, Palmer's father kicked her out of the house and simultaneously disowned her, leaving her virtually alone in the world. She took the next shuttle to the States, and began looking for her mother. She arrived in New Carthage, and coming up empty, soon after left for Ireland in search of other relatives.
While in Dublin, she attained degrees in linguistics, learning several languages, and journalism. She supported herself writing for area newspapers, where she soon became quite well-known for her tough stance on crime and her relentless reporting. After numerous attempts on her life, Palmer finally decided to return to New Carthage, where she could retain at least a degree of anonymity. This did not last, however, as she soon found work at NCI News, and was shortly thereafter promoted to CEO of the corporation.
In May 2029, Palmer was engaged to Desmond O'Malley, who has since gone missing somewhere in New Carthage.
